Welcome to another fun exciting year of PE at Chute Middle School. This years team sport unit will be Tsegball.
Tsegball is a fun, new, team sport designed for use in schools, recreational centers, rehabilitation clinics, as well as the military. This game was specifically designed for co-ed competition, strictly forbidding any physical contact. The game was developed to encourage good teamwork, strategizing, communication and creative thinking. There is NO jumping allowed either offensively or defensively, so players need to rely on quick thinking, good instincts, and quick reflexes.
Tsegball was created by Sebastian Bruce. His goal was to create a game that would allow both men and women to compete on a level playing field. Bruce combined elements of handball, volleyball, rugby, basketball and hopscotch within his new game. The actual playing field is 160 feet wide x 360 feet long. (approximately 53 yards wide x 120 yards long) You can see why it is a good conditioner! We will play on a modified court indoors. We will extend beyond the basketball boundaries to allow more room.
During Chute PE our rules and game play will vary slightly from the official game. For information on how we play during PE please click on the documents tab and then click the Tsegball study guide.
